Christ is Risen Ukrainian Lent and Easter Feast Days of the Catholic Church (Julian Calander) Lent" is not something you brush off your clothes. Lent is the period of time in the Christian year between Ash Wednesday and Easter. it is intended to be a time of serious personal reflection, self-denial, and repentance. Many of us are familiar with the concept or phrase of "giving up something for Lent." This grows out of the self-denial aspect of the lenten season. it is outwardly denying ourselves of something as a reminder that we are inwardly "denying self, taking up our cross, and following jesus." We must remember that real "self-denial" is not the outward reminder of what we "gave up," but the inner change of heart. The Feast of Christ's Resurrection, Holy Pascha, is the greatest Feast of the Church and stands in a class by itself. The next in importance are the Twelve Great Feasts of the Church. Then there are countless other feasts celebrated throughout the year. Year
